In golf there is a saying, play the ball where it lies. What this means is do not improve your lie. Wherever the ball falls you have to play from that spot. In other words don’t change anything just hit the ball exactly as it sits.
In life like golf, I think we should focus more often on simply playing the ball where it lies. Life hands us some very tough times and it also hands us some of the most blessed times we can ever imagine. We tend to focus on adjusting our shot too often. What I mean by that is we look to figure out ways to try to control our lives. We struggle to constantly adjust our lives when maybe we should really just take it one day at a time and do the best we can with what life throws at us. You know play the ball where it lies.
Planning and thinking about the future is ok. As a matter of fact, I recommend it. Trying to guess and worrying about things that have not even occurred and may never occur is not a good thing. We spend so much of our time worrying about so many things, most of which will never happen anyway. We try to make adjustments and figure out ways to prevent things we think may be coming downs the road of life. We spend our energy and resources trying to make sure that we can handle these things when they happen and guess what? They never happen.
Do not waste your time, your health, and the day worrying about what might happen six months from now. My recommendation is to play the ball as it lies. React to the happenings in life that are actually occurring do not fret so much about the future. Most of the things you are worrying about will never come to fruition anyway.
Plan for your future, but know you will never ever be able to predict what life is going to throw at you. Stop worrying about things that may happen. Focus on playing the ball where it lies, and focus on living life today. You will quickly begin to feel much less stressed, and amazingly enough you will be surprised how things tend to work out. Good luck playing your ball where it lies.
